"Are you SIA?"
"No, not yet."
"Oh, not yet." She nodded slowly. "You working on it?"
"Yes, I am," I replied.
"Good, once you get your badge call this number, and tell him you're from Rebecca."
She dipped her hand into her bag and handed over a business card. I took the card and looked at it. At the top of the card, it stated "Security Expert" and under it was a name and number.
"Okay, will do," I replied.
I was at an all night after party event. I had earlier been stationed outside to help with the queue. It had been hectic maintaining order with the different characters that came for the event. Some of them were already drunk which made them uncooperative. The fact that it was also raining didn't help matters, as people kept jumping the queue so as to quickly get into the hall.
After we had managed to get everyone in the queue into the hall. I had entered the hall and stayed in the lobby.
There was not much to do except to smile and direct people to the toilets or the smoking area or answer any other questions that they needed answers to.
I had smiled at her as she walked by, and she had stopped to engage me.
"So which events have you done?"
"Football, rugby, cricket, concerts, flower shows, and festivals."
She smiled, "that's cool. Which of the concerts did you do?"
"Beyonce, Artic Monkeys..."
"Beyonce? The one in Sunderland? I was there too."
"No, the one in Scotland."
"Oh okay. Did you enjoy it?"
"Yeah, I did. Though I could not really pay too much attention to her because I had to watch the spectators and keep the vomitory, and stairway clear. But the spectators were quite interesting to watch."
"Hmm, I can imagine the scene, especially with the ladies dancing and all. I also went crazy when Beyonce came on stage."
I nodded and smiled, "exactly."
'So which event do you enjoy the most?"
"The concerts, then the festivals, because of the music."
"So you enjoy camping?"
"Not camped yet. The festivals were non-camping. And I love going home to my bed."
"Hmm, I'm sure your bed must love you too."
"Well, it's a mutual thing."
She smiled and patted my shoulder. "Do get in touch once you get your badge. I look forward to working with you."
"I will definitely be in touch. Thanks."
She nodded and walked away.
