The Hyena Code — Continuation 11
Police Station on the outskirts of Lagos.
The police officers in the station stood up in shock as the bank alarm started blaring from the office of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO). It has been several years since the bank was last attacked. They found it hard to believe it was happening again.
The DPO quickly exited his office, “Oya o, let’s go, the bank is under attack.”
He watched as the anti-robbery squad and other police officers geared up, grabbed their weapons, and headed out of the building. In the police compound were three Toyota Hilux SUVs and an armoured carrier vehicle. The officers got into the vehicles and the drivers started to move out of the compound. As the SUVs turned and faced the direction of the Bank, the head of the driver of the lead SUV dissolved into a bloody mess of flesh, bones, and brain matter. The SUV veered off the road and down into a ditch.
The bonnet of the second SUV fulminated and sprayed the windshield with water, oil, and pieces of iron. One of the police officers had taken a position on top of the armoured carrier, and the instant the vehicle exited the compound, the officer flew off as his brain splashed into the surrounding wall. Then one of the front tyres of the third SUV blew up and the armoured carrier crashed into it.
The police officers cautiously got out of their vehicles, guns drawn, and looked around. Then they slowly started to jog down the road. Suddenly two of them dropped to the ground within a ten-second interval, and both heads had a gaping bloody, messy hole. The rest of the officers scattered and ran back into the police compound.

In the bank.
Usman stayed in the bank vault to stuff money into the several small bags the gang brought with them, while Dada moved the bags out of the bank vault to the banking hall. Then Tony took the bags out of the building into the boot of the two vehicles they came with.
Yemi left them and entered the office of the Bank Manager, two men and three women were hiding under the table. He checked his phone and then walked to one of the women. He grabbed her by the hair and dragged her out of the office.
“Where do you keep your customers’ security documents?” He whispered in her ear with his gun pressing into her ribcage.
“In the vault sir,” she replied whimpering.
“Show me. I want the documents given to you by your baby daddy for safe custody.”
“Which of the documents sir?”
“All of the ones he gave you to hide for him.”
She led him to the vault, opened a cabinet, and gave Yemi two sealed envelopes. He tore the envelopes open and glanced at the documents. Then he shot her in the head.
Usman and Dada were startled as they looked at the dead body and back at Yemi.
“Oya, let’s get out of here,” Yemi said, “the police are on their way.”
The guys picked up the bags they were loading and started to move out of the vault. Yemi shot Dada in the back of the head.
Usman dropped his bag, turned to him, and screamed in anger, “What the fuck is wrong with you?”
Yemi looked at him calmly. “They were going to double-cross us.”
Usman exhaled slowly. “So how do we deal with his other two friends.”
“I will take care of it. Go get the tapes from the CCTV recording.”
Yemi took his phone and dialed a number. “Hey darling.”
“Yes boo.”
“Drop the other two.”
“Always a pleasure.”
Yemi smashed his gun against the wall and as he walked away, the gun started to dissolve into sand particles.

Outskirts of Lagos
From the top of a 2OO foot-long Cell Tower, Ada turned towards the bank, took aim with her M107 Semi-Automatic Long Range Sniper Rifle, and squeezed out two quick shots in the direction of the bank. She then turned the rifle back to check the road leading to the police station if there was any movement.
Two police officers had just come out of the armoured carrier and they were cautiously moving forward in the direction of the bank. From half a mile away, Ada squeezed the trigger and saw the head of one of the police officers dissolve into a mass of blood and brain matter. She smiled and shot the other police officer in the buttock as he ran for cover.
She turned and watched two vehicles drive out of the bank premises. She then dismantled her rifle loaded it in a long bag and carried the bag across her body. She then carefully unhooked the rope that held her to the mast.
As she started her descent into the forest below, she spoke into her earpiece, “Abdul, I’m coming down. We’re done here.”
“Copy that, I will go get the vehicle,” came the reply.

On the expressway en route to Lagos Mainland.
Yemi dialed a number on his phone.
“We are on our way to the red house sir.”
“Any issues?”
“None. I have the documents.”
“Okay,” said the voice on the phone, “I need you to head to Kogi State as soon as possible.”
“For what sir?”
“Go to the juju priest, and tell him to upgrade your powers because you have Lions to hunt. Then ensure you leave your phone number with him.”
“My number? What for?”
“Just do it. I’ll explain later.”
“Okay sir.”
“Stay safe.”
“Yes sir.”
The call ended.

Maitama, Abuja.
The CRO was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. An autopsy report was demanded by the Bank.
The report was ready within 48 hours. It stated that the victim had internal bleeding due to damaged blood vessels. This eventually led to heart, respiratory, and kidney failure. However, further testing would be required as there appeared to be snake venom in his bloodstream.
To be continued (or maybe not)
